Our story starts on

The Original Big Green

Every summer, our family would leave the hustle and bustle of suburban life and head for the high country of Utah. Each morning, the kids would walk out the back door of our cabin to a field full of cousins and friends. We would climb trees. Build forts. Look for birds. And run until the sun went down.

We learned most of life on that big green. How to move and jump. How to fall down and how to get back up. We learned how to negotiate. How to disagree. How to forgive.

Life has changed a lot since those carefree days on the green. Childhood has changed a lot. As parents, it feels like we are constantly fighting the noise and hustle of modern life with its apps and screens, shows and lessons… and we found ourselves missing the simplicity of a play-based childhood.

We grew up playing on a big green in the moutains of Utah — with few rules and plenty of time.

That’s why The Big Green was born.

Our dream is that you’ll still go to the mountains. But that when you can’t, your kids will come play with our kids on the green. And that you’ll leave them be — to learn and grow — while we grown-ups share a delicious meal at the Blue Jay Cafe.
